Work registration
We organize songwriter identities, work titles, ownership shares, and publisher information to support accurate registrations.
We administer represented compositions, maintain writer and ownership records, and coordinate registrations and licensing across the rights covered by each agreement.
Our approachA song and a sound recording are separate works. Publishing concerns the composition—its music and lyrics—and the rights of the writers and publishers who own or administer it.
A song may have several co-writers, publishers, or administrators. We establish the shares and territories we are authorized to represent before a work is registered or licensed.
Alternate titles and recording identifiers are linked to the composition so uses can be matched across different versions of the same song. Our authority to administer the work is defined by the publishing agreement.
Our publishing company is affiliated with ASCAP. For represented works, we coordinate accurate work registrations and publisher information for public performance royalty administration.
ASCAP’s role concerns public performance rights. Mechanical royalties, synchronization licensing, and licensed lyric display are handled through their respective rights and administration arrangements.
We organize songwriter identities, work titles, ownership shares, and publisher information to support accurate registrations.
We maintain a clear record of represented songs, alternate titles, recordings, and the rights covered by each agreement.
We assess requests against the rights we administer and coordinate the information and approvals needed for an authorized use.
Lyrics are part of the composition, and licensed lyric display can be a publishing revenue stream. We help prepare accurate lyrics, writer credits, and rights information for submission to supported lyric services.
Services such as LyricFind and Musixmatch provide lyric display and licensing systems. We coordinate the appropriate submission or licensing route for works we represent, subject to rights clearance, service requirements, and the agreements in place.
Where licensed use generates royalties, reporting and payment follow the applicable agreement and the represented ownership shares. Uploading lyrics or adding time-synced lines alone does not establish a royalty entitlement or guarantee income.
Lyric availability varies by service, language, territory, and licensing coverage. These service names describe relevant lyric platforms; they do not imply an exclusive partnership or guaranteed placement.
Performances and broadcasts of a composition can generate performance royalties. Accurate writer and publisher registrations help identify the work and its owners.
Reproduction and distribution of a composition can generate mechanical royalties. Their administration is separate from ASCAP performance royalty collection.
Placing a song in film, television, advertising, or other audiovisual work requires the relevant permissions. Displaying its lyrics also requires the appropriate rights. We coordinate uses only within the rights we administer.
